Bamburgh Castle today is the home of the current Armstrong lineage.  Their photographs can be seen in the castle keep. In addition, there is an Armstrong aviation museum and gallery. The castle keep was the only part of the castle that survived after the war of the roses.

Armstrong  renovated the castle but did not live to see the finished product. Roses adorn most of the fire places within the castle and certainly the keep. The ornate carved rosewood fireplace is adorned in them and has not changed since.

Many military weapons adorn the walls of the castle. Including spears and guns. Furthermore, there are two chainmail body suits one can view. One for a man and one uniquely for a woman. Not to mention, swords can also be viewed.

Upon ones entrance there are many Saxon artifacts one can gaze upon with a video of Armstrong explaining their history.  There is a fantastic view of the sea and the village down below from the kings great hall. Furthermore, there is a gift shop for those who like to treat themselves or others. So why not immerse once self in the history of this grand castle.

Accessibility at Bamburgh Castle

Throughout the castle the floor is uneven which can make it difficult to get around for some. Not to mention, some hallways are rather narrow. While there are many staircases throughout the castle there are handrails to be found upon most of them.

There are only two rooms that are accessible to those who are in a wheelchair. Furthermore, the tea rooms have an accessible toilet.  Whilst the staff are not trained to work with those who are neurologically diverse they are happy to help whenever possible. One can get a braille guide. In addition, a member of staff will guide and let you touch the artifacts that can be seen by the public.
