Situated on the northern coast of Morecombe Bay on the Furness Peninsula, Bardsea Beach is a shingle beach which offers vast swathes of golden sand at low tide. The beach is exposed to strong winds, and we recommend that you visit on a calm day.
Chapel Island is a small limestone outcrop which is situated in the Leven estuary, just 1.6km from Bardsea Beach. You should not attempt to walk to the island since Morecombe Bay is notorious for its quicksand and fast-moving tides.
If you are looking for a walking route, we recommend that you stick to the coastal footpath.
