BANE is devoted to its users, using its services to promote social inclusion as BANE recognises that visiting beaches isn’t always accessible. Therefore, BANE strives to make beach days accessible to everybody. Furthermore, their aim is to unite people from different backgrounds and encourage exploration, of beaches and friendships! Beach Access North East also works hard to enhance the lives of users by enabling them to take in the raw beauty of the North East coast. Let’s come together and celebrate nature together!

Volunteers are only available to hand out and collect equipment, unfortunately they can’t join you on your adventure! However, if you wish to cut your trip short, ring the on-duty volunteer to let them know. You’ll be given the phone number of the on-duty volunteer when you collect the equipment.

The chairs at BANE are available all year, in all locations. They aim to meet all of their customers' needs. In line with this, BANE's volunteers will ask ask what times suit you best for picking up and returning equipment.
Please book chairs in advance of your beach visit.
The British weather is renowned for its unpredictability, especially on the Northern coast. If you wish to cancel your trip because of weather (or other circumstances), please contact BANE asap. Alternatively, if the weather takes a turn for the worse while you're out and about, ring the contact number provided when you pick up the equipment. This is to let them know you want to return the chair(s) for any reason.
Firstly, yourself and a friend! To use their equipment, BANE asks customers to bring photo ID with them. When picking up the equipment, BANE's volunteers will ask for your contact information and will ask you to sign a disclaimer.
BANE recommends that you bring suntan lotions, blankets, towels and other beach necessities! They also recommend that the person pushing the chair wears sensible shoes with a good grip.
BANE's equipment is available to anyone who has difficulty walking on a beach. They aim to make beaches accessible for everybody! To use a beach wheelchair, a friend or family member is needed to push them.
The only hoist available is at BANE's Whitley Bay location.
Unfortunately, BANE's volunteers are unable to assist customers when transferring to their beach wheelchairs. They also cannot join you on your beach adventure. Users must bring an adult helper to assist with these factors.
BANE kindly allows customers to store their own wheelchair/ walking aids in their storage facilities while they're out and about.
BANE's chairs are free to use! However, they do welcome donations which can help to improve and extend their services to other North East coasts. Donations can be given through their website.
