The Birdoswald Roman Fort is ruins of a fort that was once apart of Hadrian’s wall.
There are quite a lot of different activity’s to do such as you can just relax and enjoy the view and surrounding areas. Another thing to do is to walk along the longest stretch of the Hadrian’s wall. You could also take a step into the history of Roman soldier’s with activity’s such as:
At the beginning the fort was built along with the Hadrian’s wall in 122-32 AD. Moreover at the time the fort first was getting built it was made out of turf not stone. Also along with Birdoswald fort there are 14 other forts along the wall. All forts combined allowed Hadrian wall to be garrisoned by nearly 10,000 people. The fort itself held around 1000 soldiers.
