Set in beautiful mature woodlands, our 10 hectare university Botanic Garden is open to the public. We provide an academic resource to the university for research and teaching, we also offer educational visits to schools.
The Botanic Garden is a leading attraction in Durham, with guests young and old visiting year round. Our gardens include; a winter garden, bamboo grove, alpine garden, glass houses and our recently developed woodland garden and wild flower meadow. Take a look at the museum of Archaeology, the Palace Green Library and Durham Castle, details can all be found through the Botanical Garden website.
Activities and events are run for children and families during holiday times, check out the website for different events and activties catering for specialist interests. Local artists display their work in the coffee shop, which rotates on a monthly basis. This is more than a museum!
