Collected is an independent bookshop in the centre of Durham. Starting out as a mobile bookshop van, they established their physical shop in late 2022. They pride themselves on stocking female authors and books about the female experience. Collected seek to highlight the importance of books by women and encourage their readers to engage with the vibrant diversity that literature can offer. Their focus on feminism has quickly established themselves as a prominent seller in Durham, particularly popular with the student population. With a broad variety of texts from non-fiction, beautiful hardcovers, fiction and children’s books means there is someone for everyone. Additionally, they are a great way to explore new genres not typically stocked by high-street shops.
Their cosy shop also has space for a small café. Here you can sit and appreciate the warm atmosphere with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. They also offer a monthly book subscriptions, themed book bundles and the option to order books instore. As well as this, Collected also frequently host highly popular author events and book clubs. One of the highlights of the Collected calendar is the regular Books and Beats event. This is a delightful evening where you are invited to browse their collection with a drink, backed by a live DJ.
Collected is wheelchair accessible and on a level surface. The shop is quite small which can make it difficult to navigate when busy.
Collected is next to the Riverwalk Car Park that has disabled parking options. The shop is also situated close to bus transport options on North Road and the Durham Train Station.
