Dalton park is the largest outlet shopping centre in the North East, with over 65 stores selling over 200 different brands and designer labels, including stores such as M&S Outlet, Levi’s, Next and WHSmith. Along with this, customers are able to get up to 70% off favourite brands. This means that they save on the stuff they love. There are also plenty of cafes dotted around the shopping centre, making shopping trips a more relaxing experience.
From electric vehicle charging points and green energy suppliers. To solar panels which have generated enough energy to boil a kettle 7,179,364 times. Dalton Park has plenty to brag about in terms of being eco-friendly. There is extensive and ongoing work on the site’s Parkland with native trees and wildlife trails, and transformed under-used space into ‘Pollinator Parks’ to support and care for local wildlife and repair broken ecosystems using small scale rewilding methods.
Along with the bright and airy shopping centre, Dalton Park also offers 55 acres of landscaped Parkland opposite to it. In 2003 over 600,000 cubic metres of colliery spoil was shifted in order to create space for the construction of the buildings and car parks of the retail outlet. All of the material excavated on site was re-used to create the hills and valleys of the Parkland. Re-cycled organic waste was used to enrich the colliery shale so that colonies of woodland, wetland and wildflower meadows could be established.
Along with the wide variety of shops and activities, there is also a free children’s play area. The play area has a full suite of exciting and interactive equipment for children aged between 2 and 10 years. It includes a number of accessible, inclusive features such as an extra wide slide, easy access ramps, and in-ground roundabout suitable for wheelchairs. Children can also enjoy games and puzzles, musical elements, and role play with a shop counter and captain’s wheel.
Yes, there is a wide array of seating available, which includes outdoor seating for some of the cafes.
Only service dogs are allowed in the main shopping mall, however the Parkland area is fully open to all dogs.
Yes, scooter and wheelchair hire is available for visitors with extra needs. While they are not currently charging for the equipment, a refundable deposit of £10 for the wheelchair and £20 for the scooter is requested.
