A beautiful free, publicly owned gallery located in Manchester. Founded in 1823 the Manchester Art Gallery is full of history and beauty. Manchester Art Gallery also hosts a variety of exhibitions and events to peak your interest. These variety of events mean there is always something perfect for all of the family!

The Art Gallery is also home to a Gallery café which is perfect for grabbing a quick lunch or for cake and drinks! The café itself focuses deeply on sustainability and uses as much local produce as possible.

Due to the Manchester Art Gallery being in central Manchester there are plenty of food and drink places surrounding the Gallery to match any dietary need.

Getting there

There is many bus and coach stops nearby. Manchester coach and bus station is just under a 5 minute walk away.
There is a Q-Park ‘Q-Park Piazza’ car park a 2 minute walk away that is possible to pre-book. Alternatively, there is a NCP car park ‘Manchester Piccadilly Plaza’ a 4 minute walk away.

Accessibility

Disabled car parking spaces are located on ‘Nichols Street’ which is also near to an entrance with a ramp, this entrance facing Moseley street. It is also possible to borrow manual wheelchairs in the entrance hall, it is important to note the entire gallery is accessible for wheelchairs and buggies.

The Gallery hosts tours monthly is BSL which is free however it is recommended to book in advance. Further, an induction loop is also fitted in the lecture room and portable hearing loops are available for tours.

Large print guides are available to give you more information on the art work in the gallery for partially sighted visitors. It can be arranged for any event or tour to be audio described. Guide dogs are also welcome!
