Mother Shipton’s cave is a park that has many different things to do. The park is based on the storey of a famous prophetess that’s name was Mother Shipton.
Mother Shipton had many supposed talents such as the ability to make traditional remedies and could even predict the future. She started small and slowly became more confident and gained more power. After gaining more confidence she began to be known as the Knaresborough’s prophetess, a witch.
There is the cave that mother Shipton was supposedly born in 1488 and even lived there for a few years. Old traditions show themselves in the wishing well as. They have been wished in for over 300 years and many visitors come forward because there wishes cam true
Another activity is the petrifying well that has claim to be the oldest visitor attractions. Walking along Sir Henry slingsby’s long walk and beech avenue is another activity available. The beech avenue is said to have the oldest and tallest beeches in the country and where planted in 1739.
Visit the adventure playground which has a variety of equipment for all ages. There is plenty of seating and perfect for family picnic. Dogs are welcome all over the park except the playground due to health and safety.
