People refer to Darlington as “lovely sunny Darlo” and on The day I and my BoyFriend Visited South Park The Phrase was certainly true to its nature. We both sat on a bench looking out onto The lake hearing The geese, children and birds chirping in The trees. Sometimes just being present in the moment makes the moment last in one’s memory for a long time. At South Park there are some lovely views.
Oposite the playground there are some picknic benches suitable for the whole family.
You can watch children playing in The play park, ask their parents questions at the aviary and watch people play with their dogs on The lawn. The park is fabulously well maintained and clean. The friends of south park help with maintenance and planned projects within The park.The people are very friendly and helpful. The park itself is a host to live outdoor concerts and events. The park does have a multy games area. A bowling greens. A skate parks. A café and a gym.

The park is open 24 hours a day all year round. Staff are based in the clock tower lodge from 9:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
The paths of the park are wide enough to push either pram or wheelchair through. There is more than one entrance into the park making wheeling a wheelchair easier. Furthermore, getting a push chair or wheelchair down, closer to the lake is possible however the geese seem friendly and largely unconcerned about human presence. There is an accessible toilet if one needs it. Whilst there are no official staff there to ring and get guidance assistance the people of Darlington are very friendly and are happy to help whenever they can. Whilst there is no braille menu at the café staff are happy to read the menu out to customers when required.. Whilst staff are not trained to work with those who are neurologically diverse, they’re happy to help whenever they can.
