Speechworks provide speech and language therapy to children at home and in school. They assist children who are struggling with speech or who have a hearing impairment and need extra support. As an organisation, they are based in the northwest and provide support across Lancaster and Cumbria. They have a dedicated and experienced team who offer exceptional support that is tailored to the child they are helping. Speechworks can provide private support in a location that is comfortable and convenient for your child. Additionally, they can provide assessment and therapy through schools to whole classes or individual students. Alongside this, they can train teachers so they are familiar with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) practices.
After a referral has been gained, Speechworks will organised a one-to-one session with your child. Here, they will assess your child’s needs and formulate a support plan for them. Therapy is bespoke to each child and is designed to be creative and engaging. Reports will be written along the way to keep parents up to date about progress. Speechworks also offer free telephone consultations before any assessment takes place to discuss parents’ concerns and what they want for their child. Where appropriate free resources are available to use between sessions.
In schools, Speechworks can assess and meet with any number of pupils. Through group or individual sessions, Speechworks therapists can assist pupils with speech and language difficulties. Also, reports, advice and training can be offered to staff so they better understand SLCN and can apply in their classrooms.
