What is the Sunderland Carers Centre?
Sunderland Carers Centre is a carer-centred service. They work to support unpaid carers who operate in the Sunderland area. This comprises of Houghton-le-Spring, Hetton-le-Hole, Easington Lane and Washington.
They deeply understand the role of carer and understand the complexities and unique challenges that a caring role presents. Therefore, Sunderland Carers Centre provide tailored support to ensure that you get the help that you actually need. It does not matter who you care for or who you are, this service welcomes you!
Carers often do not recognise the significance of what they are doing and consequently do not seek out the information, support or advice necessary to support this role. To prevent this, the centre is directly involved with their diverse community. Their website can be translated into numerous languages. What’s more, they even offer interpretation services so that all carers can access one-to-one support!
The Sunderland Carers Centre welcomes:
- Young carers (classified as under 25 years of age who cares for a loved one)
- Older carers
- Parent carers
- Adult carers (classified at over 18 years of age)
Support is provided in a 3 tiered approach. This support includes, but is not limited to:
- Information services
- One-to-one support
- Support groups
- Carers assessments
- Carer training
If you operate outside of their network in Sunderland, you might still be able to access similar services with Durham County Carers Support.
They are easy to contact and have an in-depth FAQ page should you require further information.
