The Quakerhouse

Awarded the regional pub of the year award in 2009 and 20013 The Quakerhouse has not lost its treasured atmosphere. Infact it is so loved that it has won the camra pub of the year award several times running. The pub is dedicated to supplying its customers with a wide range of real ale and is well known for doing so. However, one of their household brands of ale is called the Ghost Ale. After their ghostly inhabitants. Ethal is thought to haunt the pub itself and betty Hopson was known to haunt the yard its built in. However, whether they are one in the same ghost is not yet known.

The pub was originally built in the 18th century. The doorway in is fairly wide and there is a small slope up into the pub itself. Once the door is opened you will be hit by the warmth of people enjoying themselves. The bstone walls are covered in advertisements for the events they are holding. The pub is considered a really good venue to enjoy live music being played. There are numerous comfortable stools to sit at and place your drink upon the sideboard. Snacks can also be purchased to enjoy the show.

Accessibility at The Quakerhouse

There is a small slope through the door down into the building. The same is also for their accessible toilet. The toilet is fairly narrow. On the other hand, the corridor is just big enough to turn into the toilet. The signs are very clear to read. However, the lighting is quite dim. Whilst the staff are not fully trained to work with those who are neurodivergent, they’re very happy to help to the best of their ability. Whilst there are no braille or large print menus. They are happy to tell you what options are available and carry your drinks to your chosen seat.
