The Thin White Duke is a bar and restaurant in the centre of Carlisle. Since 2010, The Thin White Duke has served a variety of beverages until late into the evening. The venue is perfect for an enjoyable night out with friends. Similarly, the food menu is delicious. Seasonal, and using fresh ingredients, The Thin White Duke offers a small menu (although it has a large range of grazing options) of typical but flavourful bar meals. There is a broad variety of vegetarian and several gluten free options. Vegan options are limited.
If you are looking for a nice night out in an atmospheric bar setting with the option for dinner or some light grazing, then The Thin White Duke is an excellent choice. It is a popular location and frequently runs evening events that gather a crowd. Additionally, it is close to other bars in Carlisle. There are two bus stops directly outside and is only a short five minute walk from Carlisle train station making it easy access for those on foot. There is some street parking nearby at Victoria Place and Chatsworth Square, but The Lanes multi-story car park is also close by and has lift access to street level.
The Thin White Duke is a relatively small restaurant, getting quite crowded very easily. The lighting is variable and dim, especially in the evenings. Additionally, they play music.
There is a step up into the restaurant and the entryway is narrow. There is not a lot of space between tables to manoeuvre and several tables have static benches as seating. There is no outdoor seating but there is extra seating upstairs.
