There is a large children’s section accounting for a variety of ages. As well as this there is a selection of stuffed animals and board games for sale. Additionally, there is a popular comic book section that is perfect for people looking for something a bit different. Upstairs is largely non-fiction and includes a range of guides and maps for the local area.
Furthermore, there is a well-sized cookery section that backs onto a café. Waterstones’ café offers a range of hot and cold drinks, light lunches and sweet treats. The café is a popular place to have lunch with friends or work using their free WIFI. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. All the staff are very friendly and eager to help with anything book or coffee-related.
Waterstones Carlisle is on two floors. There is a lift to the first floor that can accommodate a wheelchair. Furthermore, there is an escalator upstairs and a staircase as well. The whole shop can be accessed using a wheelchair. However, there is a step up from the Young Adult section into the children’s section. Although, the children’s section can still be reached by looping around the other side of the shop.
The cafe has a disabled access toilet. The sink is lowered for wheelchair users and there are railings. It is not too small and there is room for another person in there. Please be aware it is the only toilet in the shop and used by all customers.
