What is the Weardale Railway?

Weardale railway is part of history and is just recently been running again. Its a railway that runs from Bishop Auckland to Eastgate in Weardale. The railway was started as a offshoot Stockton and Darlington in 1847. In 1895 it was extended to Wearhead.

What is there to do?

Well there is the expected to get on trains and travel to places and enjoy the views while going past. There is also events that happen every so often such as egg hunts on Easter. Check out all upcoming events with [link]. In Stanhope station there is a café that is open on opening days so you can get something to eat. There is no toilets on the train but there are toilets in the train stations. Dogs are allowed on the train and train station just are not allowed on the seats and benches and must remain on leash. There is a food festival that happens yearly in bishop and this train can take you to it.
