Looking for the perfect family day out in the North-East this summer? On June 12th, from 10am – 5pm, Wheelbirks Farm host their annual “Open Farm Sunday” – a fun filled farm fest with bouncy castles, go-karts, tractor & trailer rides and of course, animals!

What Can I Do At Wheelbirks Farm – Open Farm Sunday 2022?

A better question is, what can’t you do at Open Farm Sunday?

Firstly, you and your little ones can take a walking tour of Wheelbirks Farm, guided by resident farmers Tom or Hugh Richardson. On this tour, you can get the inside scoop on how Wheelbirks create their Jersey ice cream that’s sold in the parlour! That’s right, you’ll get to see behind the scenes and have a look at their awesome ice-cream making facilities.

But why walk, when you can take a tractor or trailer ride instead? Relax, sit back with an award-winning Wheelbirks ice-cream and let Tom or Hugh provide the commentary. Or, for smaller children and parents, you can take the mini train around Wheelbirks’ beautiful Orchard.

As well as offering a tour of their ice-cream making facilities, Wheelbirks are hosting a milk parlour experience on Open Farm Sunday.  You and the kids can see exactly where their milk comes from and learn about how it’s made. An educational experience for the children? Absolutely. And for the adults? Still yes.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a farm fun day without animals. On the day, Wheelbirks will have a farmyard full of friendly animals that you and your family can meet. Gorgeous Jersey Cows, chicks and goats will be eagerly waiting, ready to get acquainted with you and your children! And, obviously, we can’t forget the fan favourite donkey duo – Hamish and Dougie!

Alternatively, if your children want more face-paced, adrenaline fuelled fun, they can go bananas on the bouncy castle in the Orchard or go crazy on the go-karts in the barn.
And there’s more good news! Wheelbirks Parlour will be open all day serving hearty home made food, hot and cold drinks and their famous Jersey ice cream!
