Wheelbirks Parlour is a Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour situated on a scenic Northumberland farm.
So, if you’re looking for a family fun day with farm animals, indulgent ice cream and plenty of space for the kids to play, look no further than a trip to Wheelbirks!
Let’s start with the most important thing first – food. For those with a sweet tooth, Wheelbirks have a delicious range of homemade desserts for both children and big, adult-sized children. From the brilliant Bubblegum and Popping candy dessert to the more simple Strawberry, there are plenty of sweet treats to indulge in! Did I mention that they also make their own homemade ice cream and milkshakes fresh on the farm?
On the savoury side, a small lunch menu provides a selection of sandwiches, panini’s and jacket potatoes with various fillings. You can couple your lunch of choice with a coffee, specialty tea or a cold drink. There are also snack plates or snack bags on offer for the children. Click here to check out the full menu.
After the little ones have had their food, there’s plenty to keep them entertained. Inside the parlour, your youngest can play away in the indoor pre-school. However, on a summers day, you may want to stroll on out to The Orchard! This area is primed for picnics with outdoor seating available, so you can order to takeaway and sit in the sunshine with your snacks of choice. The Orchard also has as an outdoor play area for older children, featuring a slide and a giant tyre swing!
And of course, where there’s a farm – there are animals. Wheelbirks Farm is home to chicks, goats, gorgeous jersey cows and best friend donkey duo – Hamish and Dougie. Tyre swings, slides, ice cream and animals? Sounds like a wholesome family day out to me.
To round off your trip, why not pick up some homely gifts or a cute children’s book at “The Cow Shed”? – a quaint little gift shop located inside the parlour.
Wheelbirks also host regular events on the farm and in the parlour.
On the first and third Wednesday of each month, the parlour host “Babes in Arms” – a support group for parents and carers of young babies. These friendly coffee mornings take place between 10am – 12pm and are scheduled to run up to July 2022.
The awesome little indoor pre-school can be exclusively hired for birthday parties of children aged 1-4.
Wheelbirks also host an annual “Open Farm Sunday” – a fun filled farm fest with bouncy castles, go-karts, tractor & trailer rides and of course, animals!
If you’re eager to get your creative on, Wheelbirk’s Farm is the brand new home of Canny Crafty. The pottery studio are now taking bookings for parties, pottery painting sessions and baby print appointments.
Or if you want to dabble in a bit of drawing, you can partake in Jenny Purrett’s wonderful DRAW workshops. The workshops are hosted at her studio on the farm, a stones throw away from the parlour.
