Woodlands Animal Sanctuary is a Lancashire-based non-profit organisation. The sanctuary helps a range of animals, from pets to local wildlife. It specialises in helping cats and guinea pigs. Likewise, the sanctuary also specialises in rehabilitating hedgehogs. To help fund the sanctuary and its work, they hold fantastic events that are open to the public!
The sanctuary opened in 2005 and since then has worked hard to help local animals in need. In 2015 the Woodlands Animal Sanctuary opened a facility dedicated to hedgehogs. It’s the only hoggy hospital in Lancashire and Merseyside! How amazing is that?
All the sanctuary staff are fully qualified and are dedicated to their work. Not only this but staff help to educate people about wildlife and how to care for it. As part of this, the sanctuary has educational programmes that are aimed at local schools, clubs and groups.
As mentioned, Woodlands Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation and as a result of this relies on donations. The sanctuary is not open to ‘drop-in’ visits but it does hold different events that you can get involved in to help fundraise for the sanctuary! Some of these events include:
Do you love animals and want to become involved? The sanctuary also offers packages where you can become an animal carer for a day! The package entails shadowing one of the sanctuary’s volunteers. The package is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and to interact with a wide range of animals. It’s the perfect present for any animal lover!
The package is open to young children and adults, anyone can become involved! The sessions typically last from 9 am-1 pm. The package is £40, and all the proceeds help to fund the sanctuary and its work!
