Wordsworth House and Garden is the Georgian-era childhood home of poet William Wordsworth. Visitors can explore the home as he would have known it through carefully replicated rooms and garden. The helpful guides create a warm atmosphere and invite visitors to try homemade Georgian recipes in the kitchen, experiment with quill and ink in the clerks office and even try a replica harpsicord! The garden is blooming with a variety of plants and vegetables that Wordsworth would have seen grown as a child.

Furthermore, Wordsworth House and Garden also looks directly down onto the River Derwent and is set in the centre of Cockermouth, a picturesque town in the heart of the Lake District. Wordsworth House is the best location to explore the early life of William Wordsworth and understand what inspired him to pursue romanticism. Visitors will fall in love with the Lake District and its vibrant atmosphere just as much as the poets did.
