The atmosphere at Zapatista is warm, happy, and bright. The buildinghas zigzag mosaic floors which happen to be in an inviting orange colour. The supersized day of the dead photographs create some cultural splendour to the atmosphere. Not to mention, the food is delicious. There are plenty of filling options to choose from including vegan options. Furthermore, from the windows there is a pleasant view of County Durham.

Accessibility at Zapatista

Unfortunately, there are two large steps up into the building and a set of set of steep wooden steps up into the Zapatistas. This being quite an obstacle for those who struggle with steps. such as, those in a wheelchair. But once you are there the floor is flat, and the staff are friendly. In addition, there are no braille or large print menus. Despite this, staff are incredibly happy to explain what is on offer for you to choose from. Whilst staff are not trained specifically for those who are neurodivergent, they are happy to help in any way possible. Few highchairs are available. Furthermore, they are hugely popular as a takeaway and delivery service.
